5Great toy!Aug 13, 2011
By Sean H.
Awesome toy. My son had a great time playing with it. This new Air Hogs is much more durable than previous versions made of foam. Definitely worth the money.

1YawSep 06, 2011
By M. Kimbrell "M. Kimbrell"
I have previously owned the sharpshooter helicopter which also used the same yaw control. Although it had a slow response it was still flyable. In this aircraft I've found the yaw control only effective in one direction. I was unable to hook any loads during flight. Manually hooking loads made the yaw control less effectual (increased weight) putting it into an unstoppable spin. I would not recommend this product untill they address the yaw control.

5Air Hogs Fly CraneOct 27, 2011

This is a great toy! It is very durable, having survived many crashes into walls and furniture. It is a 2 channel, so you can only control up, down, left, and right movement. The helicopter, during flight, automatically moves forward at a slow, steady pace. The helicopter can't go backwards, and it does have a working claw/winch, that is controlled using the remote control. It is an infrared remote control so if an object is blocking the remote control, the remote won't be able to transmit the signal to the helicopter. The controller uses six AA batteries and the helicopter charges from the controller, so you should use rechargeable AAs. The helicopter uses a LiPo rechargeable battery that can't be replaced. The helicopter can fly for at least 10 minutes. The helicopter itself is very stable during flight. Even if you fly it near a vent, the helicopter can handle the "wind" pretty well. I have tested its stability and it can handle itself in a strong gust of wind. I can even fly it through the hallways. When you take offif the helicopter takes off fast, you should pull back on the throttle once you reach halfway between the ceiling and the floor, otherwise you risk crashing into the ceiling or reducing the throttle too fast which can lead to the dropping of the helicopter. If you know the helicopter is going to crash, just cut the throttle and let the helicopter drop because that is better than the helicopter flying into objects. Picking up the baskets using the claw is not that hard if you are patient and the helicopter is trimmed. The trimming is pretty easy. While trimming, when the helicopter is almost flying straight, turn the trim knob slowly and bit by bit until it flys straight, otherwise you might make it turn in the opposite direction. The helicopter does not have any replacement parts, but fortunately, Spinmaster provides excellent costumer service. I highly recommend this helicopter to you and if you like it, you should get the Air Hogs Sharpshooter which launches missiles and flies just as good if not better.

4Great idea for a new helicopterOct 11, 2011

I got this helicopter for my son when I saw it on Amazon. I fly hobby-grade R/C's and while this is definitely not in the same category, it IS a ton of fun for a toy which puts a huge smile on my son's face. Contrary to what some reviewers have said, I find the toy to be very well built. Remember that these small helicopters have to be light so that they can fly. The hook is a nice feature and even though it's tough to pick things up, makes for hours of fun, charge after charge. If you're looking for a hobby-grade R/C, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a fun toy that's easy to fly, then I think this will make you/your kid very happy.

4A really fun toyDec 01, 2011
By Michael E. Bowman
I gave this to my grandson for his 7th birthday. According to the labeling, he is too young for it, but he "really really wanted it". I thought he would get frustrated and quickly lose interest. It was his favorite toy. Within an hour he was flying and landing with only an occasional crash (It survived many during the learning process). I don't know if he ever even tried to pick up the basket with the hook, but my daughter says she still has to put it up so he will do something else.

It does not have true directional control and won't hover, but for the money, it's a great toy.
