This is a great riding-on train for kids! I love the fact that this is an Italian company and the product is made in USA. My daughter loves this train and she loves the little musical pieces it plays when you press the red button. Your kid will also love this train and I do recommend it overall; however, the are a few things I want to point out, which is why I didn't give it five stars.
1. The weight limit on this train should be higher than 40 lbs, because my daughter is barely 2 years old and is already 30 lbs. I'm afraid that within about another year, she'll be too big to be able to ride the train.
2. There should be an additional car to hook onto this train available from the company, so that two kids can ride. But as stated above, the weight limit would need to be increased, since two kids will weigh more than 40 lbs combined.
3. This train makes engine and motor sounds, but they are very loud. The speaker is right in front of the child and this caused my daughter to be afraid of riding this train for some time initially, because it was so loud.
4. While the battery lasts fairly long, charging the battery is a bit awkward, because you have to unscrew the seat and access the battery that way. I foresee a potential problem there, because with repeated screwing and unscrewing the seat to charge the battery, the tapped hole, which is simply a plastic loop, may break off or become worn out over time.
5. They should sell additional accessories for this train set. The only accessory available from Peg Perego are additional tracks. I had to look elsewhere to purchase a Rail Road sign. I also ended up building a train station and a lighted tunnel for my daughter out of cardboard.
Again, this is a great train for your little one. But the potential for this toy is so much greater than what the company is offering.

I just got this train for my granddaughter and she absolutely loves it. She is only 15 months old but she can work it and make it go all by herself. She has no trouble staying in the seat while it is going either. Also, the track is a perfect size. I did purchase extra track but haven't even taken it out of the box yet because the original track that comes with the train is large enough. There is a button for music that is an added bonus. It even makes steam noises when the train stops. It is really cute!!!

My dad got this for my 2 and a half year old train obsessed son. It's the only toy he's been playing with since he got it yesterday. It's an adorable toy. My only complaint would be that I wish it came with more tracks, you can purchaes additional ones but they charge a lot of money for cheap plastic tracks. Overall I definatelty recommend, especially if your kid loves trains.

We got this for my son's 1st birthday. He laughs on it- but is constantly falling over and out the side. He also cannot press the buttons himself to make the train go. You must press and hold a button to keep train in motion. We made our own seatbelt contraption that seems to work ok. The quality is awesome and the train is super cute. I figure in a year or so this will be the perfect toy!
