3A little disappointed.Jan 11, 2011
By Sturgeon Landborne "Your Pal Sturge"
My daughter is a huge Dinosaur Train fan, and we bought all of the available characters to go with the train set in October as Christmas gifts. She was very excited when she unwrapped all of them, and she loves playing with it, but there are definitely several downsides. The characters are not to scale with each other and most are too large to be in a car with more than one other. Some of the characters don't stand up well on their own, and some of the characters with smaller feet have their product ID number printed elsewhere on their body (Shiny Pteranadon, for example), which somewhat detracts from the illusion. Overall, though, she still loves it, but I was hoping it would be more than it is. On the plus side, the characters all look quite like their animated counterparts.

I also found the inclusion of Ollie and Orin Ornithomimus a bit excessive, as I did with Delores and Boris Tyrannosaurus, especially considering some characters that were neglected altogether, such as Patrica Palaeobatrachus; Cindy Cimolestes; Rick Oryctodromeus; Arnie Argentinosaurus; Alvin Allosaurus; Spiky Stygimoloch; Hank Ankylosaurus; Bucky Masiakasaurus; Daphne Daspletosaurus; King Cryolophosaurus; The Lambeosaurus Family, Leroy, Lily, Larry, and Lorraine; more Troodons, such as Mrs. Conductor, Gilbert, Travis, The Station Master, and/or The Troodon Official; Cory Corythosaurus; Quincy Quetzalcoatlus and/or Mr. "Wing King" Quetzalcoatlus; Iggy Iguanodon; Mikey Microraptor; The Old Spinosaurus; Keenan Chirostenotes; Arlene Archaeopteryx; Teri Therizinosaurus; and Howard Dragonfly. Not to mention some marine-dwelling characters, such as Mitch and/or Max Michelinoceras, Elmer Elasmosaurus, Carla Cretoxyrhina, and Paulie Pliosaurus, and maybe an accompanying aquacar.

If/when a new line of characters is released, we will no doubt add them to her collection, but we'd also like to see an improved train set to go along with them.

3These toys are a good fix for dinosaur train crazed kidsDec 27, 2010
By Holly A. Garriock
This toy is pretty good and inexpensive for what it is. A disappointment from a many standpoints including; compatibility with other train systems, design and potential.

pluses include; close depiction of dinosaur train characters, price, and modular nature of the toys.

cons; doesn't run on any track system of other toy types like thomas or geotrax, quality of trains is questionable, characters poorly connect to train cars, size discrepancy between characters and train cars.

my son loves them so maybe my opinion is overly harsh.

5Tank ReviewJan 04, 2012
By Cathy
I purchased Tank for my grandson for Christmas. He loves the TV show and now when watching he plays with Tank and all of the others in the train set. I also purchased the tunnel train set for him as well. The local library had one and he enjoyed playing with it during his visits there. He is very hard on toys and Tank seems to be holding up!

5Dinosaur Train TankJan 03, 2012
By J. Duckworth
Great combination of 2 things kids love: Dinosaurs and trains. Great add on to the dinosaur train basic set. Seems to be well built and modeled well after the PBS cartoon.

5Great for Dino Train Fans!Dec 08, 2011
By E. Kennedy
For anyone who isn't familiar with the show Dinosaur Train it's geared at young kids, probably pre-school age, and all the characters are dinosaurs. The show teaches some basic values such as the importance of friends, family, sharing, and other good qualities. This is Tank the Triceratops who comes with a train car which can be hooked to the other cars so he can ride along with his friends. Excellent for any kid who likes the show. These are well built dinosaurs which will hold up well. They're excellent for pretend play.
