3Mickey Deserves More than a Two-Song Gig ...Oct 17, 2011
By DACHokie
While Mickey Mouse is a star to most kids already, so it is fitting that ROCK STAR MICKEY now takes the stage. Boasting a cool pair of shades and a wicked electric guitar, it only takes a press of his foot and pinch of his nose before he belts out a mousy version of the Kink's "You Really Got Me", complete with rock star "moves" (considering this doll does the splits, it may more akin to Van Halen's version).

Great concept, but along with the positives, there are some downsides to ROCK STAR MICKEY:

1) He only plays two songs (and only one of those two really qualifies as "rock") and there is a fine line between being a cute novelty and an annoying, repetitive noisemaker. This is the most significant (and quite frankly, the only) major letdown for this toy. The technology is available to allow for more songs ... many more songs.

2) The volume is unchangeable and true to rock star form, he's loud ... ROCK STAR MICKEY will command aural attention from everyone in the room.

3) The rock star persona is a refreshing change of pace for Mickey Mouse ... the attitude, the guitar and the moves (lifting the guitar and doing the splits) are definitely entertaining. Using Mickey to generate a child's interest in rock `n roll is a positive in my book.

4) While the Mickey Mouse doll is plush, there are parts of him (guitar and shoes) that are hard plastic ... unfortunately, ROCK STAR MICKEY it is not going to be a toy that a child will want to cuddle-up with at night (if this is attempted, parents wanting to ensure a good night sleep for everyone in the house would be wise to remove the batteries in case the foot is accidently pressed).

Overall, ROCK STAR MICKEY should prove to be entertaining for a young child at a basic level. I found that entertainment factor is high in the beginning, but it doesn't last long before it creates a potential repetitive-noise situation for parents. I think the limited number of tunes, the lack of a volume control and the hard plastic features could have been addressed (it would be nice if the guitar was detachable, even at the expense of some of Mickey's "moves"). But, because it's Mickey Mouse, it has instant appeal.

4A Video Review on Rock Star MickeySep 21, 2011
By Charles Evans "Call me Kevin"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1WSUFJZTOTZOA In 2010 Fisher-Price Disney's Dance Star Mickey Dance Star Mickey was one of the "Must-Have Toys" of the Christmas season. Dance Star Mickey was fun, hip, and had a wide assortment of dance moves. In 2011 Fisher-Price has tried to recapture the magic with "Rock Star Mickey", and depending on child they may have another big hit on their fan.

I do believe that Rock Star Mickey has a smaller audience than last year's model. For one, while most kids love to dance not all kids are big fans of the Rock Star theme. This is especially true for younger kids (specifically my 2 year old daughter). Our daughter enjoys Dance Star Mickey, although he is not one of her absolute favorites, but she is less excited about his rockin' cousin.

Notes on Rock Star

- He is a about 4 inches shorter than Dance Star Mickey, but he is also less expensive

- Rock Star Mickey only plays 2 songs, and they do get old

- No volume control

- He does come with batteries

- Packaging was surprisingly easy to open.

- Mickey's voice does not sound quite right, it is a little more squeeky and metallic.

Final Verdict - Rock Star Mickey is likely to garner smiles from your favorite boy or girl, however if I was given a choice our family would stick with Dance Str Mickey. If you have a future rocker.... I could easily see your choice being the opposite.

4 Stars

4Great for Mickey fansSep 29, 2011
By Jenn B "Happy Mom"
We are huge Mickey fans and this toy is a huge hit. the way he dances around and plays his guitar, the kids think he is so cool. What fun for the family to watch and play with. Tons of fun, we can just sit and watch him for hours. This toy reminds me of the tickle me elmo we got for our son a few years ago. Not sure how long the interest will last, it might be one of those things that as soon as the newness wears off, it won't get played with for a while. I hope not though. Great for little ones, they seem to be ammused by Mickey.

1Keeps Tipping OverDec 15, 2011
By J. Chauvin
First off my son (2years) LOVED this thing in the store! We had to go "visit" him everytime we went. So we bought it for his birthday. We gave it to him and he is terrified of it! Maybe it's better left inside the box? I don't know. Well a few seconds after he gets going he will fall flat on his face everytime. I think this is what really freaks my son out. He cries "Mickey Fell!!" over and over. He's to scared to even push the buttons in store now. What a waste!

4Mickey Mouse rocks!Sep 30, 2011
By Connie Woods "Game Queen"
This is such a cute toy. Mickey sings, "plays" guitar, dances and does the splits. I was surprised at how balanced he is considering all the moving he does. My 2 year old grandson loves this toy and barely puts it down to let it "do it's thing". The music is actually rock style with Mickey's lyrics. The only problem is that the mechanical part is pretty noisy. When Mickey is moving, he makes noise that slightly obscures some of what Mickey is saying. When he isn't moving, it's just fine. It says he plays the guitar with his nose, but it's not even close. He justs lifts the guitar in front of him. I don't know how this will hold up to long term useage. The demo batteries are just about out already. He may work better with fresh ones.
