5Chuck Norris checks his closet at night for Master ChiefJul 15, 2008
By Ryan Crout "death by samurai"
wow
you people must have gotten the bad end of THAT stick
something i'd like to point out real quick
none of the figures have the right weapons and/or gear pictured or listed
well
except the covies
all the spartans are just totally screwed up
so boo hoo
get over it
it's a grenade
i've got three other figures with them, and to to tell you the truth they're annoying,
they're tiny, easily lost if removed, and they take up a valuable storage spot on spartans
grenades are over rated
that being said
this guy is fantastic
i've read some of the other reviews about how he isn't meant for children's play etc etc and that's true
but i mean come on
he's from a video game that centers around killing vast quantities of people
of course he's not designed for 4 and 5 year olds
despite this, he is incredably durable
i bought him at Alakazam around when the first series came out, so that i could have someone to fight my brute chieftain, and i've been playing with him every day practicly
i've dropped him out of helicopters, pitted him against thousands of clones
(i'll be the first to admit i still play with toys, yes, you nerds out there, we can all admit it now)
and he still holds up
in fact, i like him the best out of all nine of my guys (six spartans, two brutes, and the grunt)
the painting is the most acurate to the game i've seen, with a sort of bronze/green remeniscent of the E3 announcement trailer, and the articulation means you can replicate any action pose, or any ragdoll, from the game
his AR is sturdy, and fits incredably well into his hand, loose enough to allow for a fast melee, but tight enough not to fall out at the slightest touch, and his molding is supurb, down to the nicks and scratches of his armor
all in all, this is the exact figure to get your die hard Halo fan
be it the old school CE devotee, or the noob Halo 3 fanatic

4Lived up to my expectations! A little dissapointed with false advertising though!Mar 14, 2008
By Matthew D. Davis
This product definately lived up to my expectations. It looks good, it moves (something many mcfarlane toys don't or are limited to), and is very nice to display in various poses. The toy however does seem a bit fragile and probably not meant to be played with. I stopped playing with toys long ago, so I don't really care, but I can imagine all these young children taking it out, ready to play some awesome mastercheif action only to have the toy disintegrate limb by limb by just the everyday wears and tears of average child's play! These toys are geared towards children and that is why they are designed to move and pose. Defiantely as well made as the other Halo toys that have been in production, but they definately look alot better!

I was also very disappointed that the picture shows a grenade attached to master chief's leg, the box even states that a grenade is included, yet all we get is an assault rifle and a little black peg with no instructions on how you use such peg. However if you look on Master Chief's back and legs, there are holes to put the peg in. These pegs are so that MC can put his weapon on his back and maybe a grenade on his thigh.... except we only get one peg, and ZERO grenades! What is this?!?!?! False advertisement! The packaging states that the grenades are included! So now my master chief sits on the shelf holding a rifle in his hand, and with a black peg sticking out of his back... since I didn't want to lose the peg, and also since the peg stick out of his leg looks really stupid! This is my biggest complaint! I cant believe that they let this problem happen! It says on the package "includes grenades". Well I don't see A grenade... let alone this so called "grenades" business! Major disappointment especially from a toy company like McFarlane who's whole infrastructure is based on pure quality!

Well enough of that. Lets say I will let them slide on that one fact.... just barely! But only because the toy is very nice looking, it poses (not easily mind you), but it still poses and looks great on my shelf where it is meant to be! I like this product overall, and recommend it, but looks like series 2 will be the same chief, but with 2 guns and grenades! So maybe its better to wait. Hopefully they will release the grenades next time! I think I am going to get Cortana next! Also accessory packs would be nice that include different weapons and GRENADES!

3happy meal sizeMar 21, 2008
By J. Sheely
like you have read before, there is no grenade. I was a little disappointed but i'll live. its just a toy, get over it.
One thing that I was greatly disappointed with is the scale that the Master Chief and the rest of the mcfarlane halo 3 series toys. They do not match the size of the halo 2 toys from Rc2 and racing champions.
So if you have the halo 2 spartans and covenant action figures, then don't bother adding these midget mcfarlane toys on the same shelf. frankly it would look just weird. Like a happy meal toy with a G.I. Joe, it simply does not work.
But with that said, this toy does have its perks. 18 points of articulation works great. the figure is very stable, unlike the larger halo 2 series. And (for you nerds like me) smaller toys take up less shelf space.

4a bit fragileMar 10, 2008
By J. W. Mullins
Like anything from McFarlane the detail on Master Chief is superb. It is a great addition to a shelve or computer table. It isn't the most durable item made though, with the arms breaking off of mine as I took it out of its wrapping. And to be fair these aren't really made to be children's toys I guess, which is for the best.

3Halo Action Figures - from a Child User's ViewMay 21, 2008
By Brant Serxner
This review is not for collectors; it is for people buying these items as toys to play with. My 8 year old son is a fan of the PC Console based HALO game, so for his birthday we got him a Master Chief and a Jackal Sniper. We have a couple of the other figures on order. As action figure toys, they have some notable flaws. 1)The hands cannot grip the weapons well at all. These are fighting figures and they can't even hold and manipulate their rifles for the kid's scenarios. Hand position and lack of articulation is a big disappointment. 2)The Master Chief's rifle is designed and built so that the muzzle falls off and is nearly impossible to keep glued in place. 3) The Master Chief box said it comes with grenades; there were no grenades. 4)They are not particularly sturdy. The Jackal Sniper's head, in particular, is prone to coming off. 5) The weapons come with little pegs so they can be held and so they can fit into holding spots. You will have to glue the pegs into the weapons or - you will lose them, or they will stick into the holding holes and have to be pried loose to be put back into the weapon.
Overall, my son is happy to have these guys, but I notice that he clearly does not find them very much fun to play with compared to his expectations and to his other action figures and Legos. I believe these design and construction issues are a big part of that.
