5Mixed feelings on this set - overall very nice, but with issuesOct 11, 2011
By Lego Fan
First, let me say that I'm a Star Wars nut, so I love just about everything Star Wars.

With that said, I have a few issues with the way Lego did this set. Yes, it is impressive, the dropship is huge, bigger than you think it will be. It does a fair job of coming in to land with the AT-OT, and it carries the AT-TE and Clone Turbo Tank to boot, which is pretty cool.

So what is wrong? First, I'd like to be able to buy the dropship without the AT-OT walker. I would like two of them to be able to drop the AT-TE and AT-OT at the same time for play. The AT-OT is the weaker half of the set, the legs don't do much and with it being open on top (yea, I know that is the OT part of the name), it makes little sense as a battle walker in my opinion.

The dropship is as swooshable as it gets, it has a nice carry handle and works just like you think it should.

Pros
Dropship is amazing
Much bigger than you expect
Great concept
High swooshability factor with the dropship

Cons
Price, the price per brick is very high, even for Star Wars
The AT-OT just kinda sits there, the legs really only sit in one position
Can't buy the dropship by itself

Over all, would I buy this again? Of course, I own everything Star Wars, so that makes me a bad person to ask. Would I buy this if I had a limited budget for Lego? No, I wouldn't, there are better ways to spend $250 on Star Wars Lego than this. Buy the new Republic Frigate and the new Millenium Falcon instead for the same money, more fun to be had that way.

5LEGO Star Wars Dropship & WalkerSep 29, 2010
By WaveRider "WaveRider"
This combination package is quite wonderful in the sense that it comes with two kits in one box. My kids love Legos, especially the SW sets. This kit takes quite a few hours for the kids to build, but they enjoy the building process. The kits are quite detailed once put together. Sturdiness is an issue particularly the mechanism where the walker attaches to the dropship. We do not glue our kits generally so pieces will come apart but definitely easily snapped back into place. Once both kits are assembled, it is a rather large set. The scale of the ships are also both quite nice. We are happy with the purchase.

5My 8 yr old grandson loved this challenge, kept him focused for 2-1/2 days!Jan 23, 2011

My grandson who struggles with being focused stayed with this project for 2-1/2 days. It was labeled for a 14 yr old he was only 8. Granted he is incredibly good at building things. This Toy was a winner and a great way to increase self confidence. Everyone was very proud of him as he was of himself! He never got frustrated. He enjoyed this tremendously.

4Nice Set... but Careful how much you payJan 06, 2012
By T. Ferguson "Florida Mom"
Very nice double set of Lego for the Star Wars fan.
Please be careful who you buy this from as it is only $264 at a "major" toy store in U.S. $299 is price gouging

5Very expensive; very funDec 23, 2011

Get ready -- the 1700 pieces form two giant, solid, and well-made vehicles... but when the pieces are all spread out on the table, they seem daunting.

The box says ages 14+ -- my son is almost 10, and he completed the sets. (Smaller fingers may have an advantage here.) The key knowledge that your assembler needs is how to match up similar-looking pieces on the 1:1 ratio diagram provided in the instructions.

The AT-OT has many moving pieces -- posable legs, an embarkation ramp, a cockpit that opens, swivel cannons -- those cannons are very cool. The legs are at their best when they are set in the "down" position -- they will support the vehicle in the "up" posture, but there is less stability.

The dropship is the real treat in this set -- it is a solid, sturdy toy with swivel cannons, missiles, a back-up missile battery within a hidden bay, and a cool cockpit. It has a lifting handle, too, and it latches onto and off of the AT-OT with an ingenious LEGO locking system. This is a large and heavy piece -- 20" long, 8" high. It stays together and zooms around just as it should.

Your LEGO Star Wars fan will love it. As a mom, I can say that this toy is EXPENSIVE, but for something special, it is worth it. The fun of buiding it and playing with it makes it worthwhile in my book.

***UPDATE *** I am adding pictures of the sorted pieces into "Customer Images".
