Good Set!Feb 04, 2011
By Kenneth Hanson This set includes some great pieces and some good figs. Don't buy it here until Amazon sells it though go to the store or lego.com. The price they are charging above is $20 more than the retail price.

Why do they charge more than lego.com itself?Nov 18, 2011
By scotiefour Or...you could just go to lego.com and pay $8 less. How are they justifying tacking on the extra price? Doublecheck everything with amazon. Used to be they'd have the best available prices. Not anymore.

Super fun missile launcher! (A kid's review)Aug 23, 2011

Lego does not make many sets with Technic style missile launchers anymore because the flick fire missiles are cheaper and smaller (and easier) to fit into the models. But any kid will tell you that these Technic style missile launchers can really shot far! So the proton cannon is really fun to play with plus it can turn and "walk". This set has Luminara Unduli (a Jedi with lightsaber), Captain Rex (yay!), a super battle droid and 2 battle droids.
Released in 2011. Made in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico, and Czech Republic. At 331 pieces, should cost less than 13 cents per piece. So, do the math, these non-amazon sellers are charging too much for a set that is still active. You might as well get it at the mall.

I purchased this Lego set for our 7 year old grandson, it was on his Wish List. He was able to put it together in approximately 2 1/2 hrs. Legos are a fabulous creative toy, we've been buying them since the 70's and have passed them on to many members of the family.
Launcher and figures are awesome!Jan 01, 2012
By Madam Pince LEGO Star Wars Special Edition Set #7869 Battle for Geonosis My 9-year-old son absolutely loves this set -- as another review stated, the missile launcher is really great. It works well and shoots far. He was impressed that you can "aim" it by adjusting/cranking the launcher up and down just like a real artillery piece. He also really loved that it has a Captain Rex figure because that one's kinda hard to find, apparently, or maybe it's just his favorite guy. Also, the Luminara figure has two faces -- if you rotate her head around, she wears goggles for driving, and the other face is just the normal face. This seems like a sturdy set also; despite the fiddly apparatus for launching missiles, there aren't pieces dropping off all over the place like some of the other Star Wars Lego vehicles. (Don't even mention the Lego Miners Crystal Sweeper set -- ugh what a frustrating disaster THAT one was a few years ago -- high hopes for a cool mechanism that utterly fell apart every time. Not so with this Battle for Geonosis set -- it is sturdy and works smoothly.) Only thing he said was he wished it came with more than one missile to launch, so you don't have to get up and go chase it down to fire again. (You WILL have to chase it down, because it goes pretty far.) All in all, this is about the best Lego set we've bought in several years. Very happy with the purchase. (I did get it at a good sale price, though, not the higher prices I see today.)
