5One of my best LEGO ModelsMar 31, 2010
By Michael J. Bauers

There's a few LEGO models I own which stand out. The Milenium Falcon, the Agents mobile command center, the Skeleton chariot model, and this one.

It was a fun build for me ( I should note I am 44, but I am easily amused by LEGOs.) No part was tedious. Once I pre sorted the pieces, it went very smoothly. You do have to be careful, as is common with large models, when moving the model. I did have to rebuild some small sections. The center is the best place to hold it as I recall.

The model looks fantastic. I did not compare it in detail with the version you see in Star Wars, but that did not concern me overmuch. It's close enough.

I assume a younger child might have problems with parts breaking off, but that's pretty common with all LEGO models, especially the larger ones. The model does use technics elements, which give it a strong "spine." The engines and the 4 wings are probably the most vulnerable.

The minifigs, are of course, nice. I know I have some of them from other models. I would think Captain Antilles has not showed up too often. It's a bit more expensive than the 10 cents / piece I like to see, but I thought it was worth owning for it's high cool factor (I am a geek sometimes, I can't help it :)

The parts were pretty standard. I think some of the parts are in colors I have not seen before though.

Here's a big plus...ZERO stickers. Yep. None. That makes me smile - I hate stickers.

5Overpriced through amazon.Sep 12, 2009

That said, this is a nice model, fairly accurate to the original, although it seems a tad bit short and stubby... it should probably be a few inches longer. The scale, in regards of the size of a minifig, is far too small, as with all lego star wars capital ships, but that's alright... as a minifig scale corellian corvette would be several feet long. The minifigs themselves are nice, I don't recall there being any other Captain Antilles minifigs, and Leia and C3P0 are quite hard to find. You also get a rebel fleet trooper and one of the newer R2D2s with the metallic silver in places.

Overall, it's a good set of a classic, iconic, starship. It's a lego exclusive, so you won't be finding this in stores, which I guess is why these vendors feel they can hike the price up. Having only been released in the past week (September 2009), this isn't even close to being out of production and going into collector's item prices. Just do yourself a favor and get it directly from lego... you'll save $75, or more, that way.

5Love itJan 24, 2011

I love what Lego has done recreating ships and scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy. This is definitely the highlight of my collection. I spent about 4 plus hours constructing it. I think it accurately captures the look of the Tantive IV in A New Hope and would reccomend this set to any Star Wars fans who are looking for a cool and fun addition to their collection. Some bits and pieces do tend to fall off when moving it around (small wings in front of escape pods tend to pop off easily) but structurally it's solid and any bits that fall off are mainly cosmetic and easily snapped back into place with minimum fuss. It is a large set and takes a while to build.
I probably wouldn't recommend it for kids under 10, and even then it depends on your child's attention span. Parent enforced breaks from building now and then should solve that issue anyways.
Bottom line: I love it. I was stoked that it came with Captain Antilles too. He died too soon... too soon....

5Definitely Worth It!Nov 27, 2011

This is, to date, still my largest LEGO set and it was definitely worth every penny. As an adult, I do not care much for the "playability" of a toy... my LEGO sets are display pieces. But this set has a very high fun factor if only because it is so enjoyable to build. I can take this set apart and rebuild it without getting bored. Such cannot be said of other LEGO models. Even the eleven engines are not as repetitive as I expected, since several of them differ from the others by a few parts. And the exclusive Captain Antilles minifig is an added bonus.

As a display piece, the model is fantastic. So much detail! I've had mine for well over a year, and it is still the highlight of my collection.

4Very Cool Set! If you like large sets, this is a great one!Nov 06, 2011
By FastEarle
I only have one complaint about this set! Landing Gear!!! You will see this complaint in most of the other entries but i would not let that keep you from getting this one! I love the old ships from the first movies! For me, it was worth it, but i have contacted Lego to see about a fix for landing gear or a display stand. Over all, the set would be a great addition to any collection! Not sure of it would be appropriate for young ones! Many small parts!

Thanks for reading!
