A Magnificent MonstrosityDec 16, 2008

I don't understand the other reviewers. They 'love' this set...but then only give it four stars? Very strange. Make no mistake, it is AWESOME. The box is huge, it has dozens of bags inside with thousands of parts and the bound instruction book itself weighs several pounds. It will take an average person 20 to 30 hours to put together. Probably much more if you are helping a child. Every section is painstakingly accurate and detailed. Once finished it is far too big and heavy to 'play' with, you simply have to admire it from many angles. Even from below it is ridiculously detailed. It is the centerpiece of my guest-room (after spending too long in the living-room, according to my wife) and every time I look at it I want to tear it down and start again, it was so much fun for me...maybe next time I have a week to kill? FIVE STARS!!!!!

A Lego Collector's DreamDec 13, 2008
By al1d8gun I have been a Lego collector even since Lego came out with the Statue of Liberty (3450) with the limited green brinks. The Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon is one of the largest Lego sets out there today and I believe it is worth every penny spent! I just recently purchased this set thru Amazon.com on sale and the price has beaten most Amazon.com's completion, even Lego (MSRP $499.00 plus tax and free shipping). You may find a better prince somewhere else, as mentioned in other reviews, so shop around, but Amazon.com might be your best bet!
There was another review below that stated that stated that they, an avid Lego collector myself, received the product slightly damaged. Well, right after I placed my order thru Amazon.com, I contacted their customer service team and asked if they could add some extra packaging material to protect the product. A representative replied back stating that there were no guarantees about how the product was going to be packaged, but forwarded the note to the warehouse. I received the product a few days after I order the Lego set and it was in a large Amazon.com box that was well packaged. The product arrived undamaged.
Overall, Amazon.com took care of my collector's and has delivered the product in record time! Thank you Amazon.com!

Fun but time consumingDec 09, 2008
By Thomas Loveless This toy was great fun, and it looks incredible done. The hours of work required are around 30 hours. This of course is after sorting all the pieces. The only down side to this set is that all the extra pieces they give you are of no importance to the construction, simply accent. This isn't good when you have a rotating joint or hinge that needs to be placed on an item to make it work. I highly recommend clearing a large clean area for construction and keeping younger kids and pets out of the vicinity, or face frustration of losing that one piece that makes all the difference.

Very well designed set.Feb 03, 2012

Here is something no other reviewers are mentioning, and that this is perhaps one of the best designed Lego sets ever. I mean I think Lego must have had a very knowledgable construction worker help design this set that they don't seem to have had on any of their other sets, especially their other Ultimate Collector Seris sets. Unlike some of the other UCS sets, this one is very stable after built, and it does not want to fall apart when you touch it or sneese too hard.
You can spot the reason why when you are building it. It has braces, beams, studs, braces and even long red rivets. This set was built to stay together. In fact, I can take the top turret off, which just slides off, so you really don't have to unsnap anything, and then grab the built set by the framework right under the turret, and carry it around and everything, and it all stays together. You can't do that with any other UCS set, with maybe the exception of the Snow Speeder.
Lego needs to have the construction worker who helped design this set, help design all of the UCS sets, and cut the Lego SEO's salary a bit and give it to that person.

Needs patience and a level of maturity to assemblyJan 08, 2012

My son used his own money to buy this set when he was 13. He decided to open and assemble it instead of treating it as a collector investment. Since then he has disassembled and reassembled the set about 4 times. One of the builds he made a stop motion video of the complete build. So you can us this as a learning opportunity if you are creative.
You need patience and a level of maturity to do the assembly since there are a gigantic number of small parts. The assembly manual is very good if you follow it carefully. Based on where the price point is today, you are better off buying a used set if you want to actually assemble the set.
