I like sing-a-ma jigs. I bought them for my five year old niece at the time, and everyone found them delightful and entertaining. (I also bought the mint green, dark purple and new yellow). With the exception that every single one of them came w/ run down batteries that had to be replaced to get them singing all the way through - these are highly entertaining or at least worth a good giggle for all ages. As a lasting gift, I'd say they work best with the 3-6 crowd.
But, this light blue one is a little different. It sings a different type of song - "For he's a jolly good fellow." It seems like it was designed more as a quirky gift for a colleague (though I can't imagine giving it as such), along the lines of the The Sing-A-Ma-Jigs - Valentine's Day that sings "Let me call you sweetheart" than as a kids gift.
I'd recommend the The Sing-A-Ma-Jigs- Dark Purple which sings "Oh My Darling Clementine" and nicely harmonizes both high and low with the others over this one. When they harmonize they're actually harmonizing while singing each of their separate songs. Here's some of the others worth considering instead of this one.
Purple - "O Susanna"
Pink - "Skip to my Lou"
Orange -"On Top of Old Smokey?"
Yellow - "Home on the Range"
Red - "Where Has My Little Dog Gone?"
Teal/Blue - "When the Saints Go Marching In?" (Good for a New Orleans Family)
Mint Green - "It's Raining, it's Pouring"
Hot Pink - "A Tisket A Tasket" (Not my favorite)
New Yellow - "This Little Light of Mine" (Great song kids love!)
New Red - "Yankee Doodle"
BOTTOM LINE: Highly entertaining, original toy for sll ages - that's like some mad scientist stuffed SNL's Mr. Bill into a crazy teddy bear outfit and gave him a singing voice. Recommended by my niece and her pre-school friends (but maybe not by her parents who grow tired of hearing noise making toys - no matter how entertaining they found them the first time.) Still, this isn't the best sing-a-ma-jigs option. Go for a different color.

This guy ( or girl ) is soooooooo cute and what a singer. And, polite too ( always says hello and goodbye or goodnight ). The voice is amazing and so adorable. I recommend you get two or three and they will harmonize. Kids can control the speed of the song it sings and it is very portable. WE LOVE OURS ( we have about 8 and they sound like a chorus ). Best age ( 2-10 ). Buy one, you'll be hooked for life. Now, don't ask me what species they are but they sure can carry a tune.

The fact that the mouth opens and closes while he sings or babbles is more true to life than those "talking" toys where the mouths don't move. And no matter what mood he's in, he always laughs at his Sing-A-Ma-Jig!

These have to be one of the cutest new toys around. The great thing is the price and how much fun they offer. My 4 year old loved it so much she wanted to give one as a gift for a friend. My 2 year old loved it as well.
