Not perfect, but worth the effort.Oct 16, 2009
By M. Sutherland I originally bought this for the machine gun, but it actually turned out to be a cool model, with big rubber tires, a solid feel and nice weight. Unfortunately, it suffers from three minor design flaws.
1) The front hooks have no solid connection, so they will fall off. 2) The gun mount is about 1 plate too low, and will not swivel unless raised. This requires the platform for the figure to also be raised. 3) The windshield and connection to the crossbar seem to be slightly off in many sets. This causes the front end to fall apart under the stress of attaching it. I admit to giving up in frustration twice before coming back to finish the model using a few basic tricks to increase clutch. The fit is still not perfect, but the Warthog is now quite solid and can handle being rolled over 1/2" rounded obstacles and crashed into walls with moderate force (minus the hooks) without breaking apart.
The Covenant Turret isn't anything to write home about, but includes some interesting pieces like the trans-blue rods and 4-way connectors that have already proven invaluable in other builds.
The UNSC figures are IMO excellent for their size and offer a great deal of pose-ability. At first , I didn't care for the Covenant Elite, but, once again, I've since found many uses for the unusual parts.
I gave this an educational rating of 5 because I feel that the challenge of correcting the flaws is an excellent learning experience for older children. Younger children and those with short attention spans will need adult assistance with this toy. I knocked two stars off durability due to the issues with the front end.

A little tricky to build but too much fun to play withAug 01, 2009

Mega Blok Halo Wars Warthog is an irresistible package on the shelf. Having heard someone reference "LEGO" Halo in line at Legoland I thought the man daft- but sure enough before my eyes was a version of one the coolest vehicles in gaming history with 2 UNSC Soldiers w/ SMGs and an elite Covenant warrior w/ beam rifle and plasma turret. Building this set can actually be a little frustrating I was set on letting my son put it together, but the chassis and middle build have alot of precise counted clicks and you will be rebuilding if you don't do this. It still took me two tries to get the pieces to gel, the directions on the turret are misleading (you need a space between the two L bricks to make it work which the manual leaves out). This set is very satisfying once constructed, I recommend gluing the cannon on the Warthog's machine gun and the light blasters on the turret for durable play. Everything is a dream come true play wise, the figures are terrific in their movement and posability, and their weapons are perfect for the scale. The tow hooks on front are bound to be lost and should have attached with little ropes. I also found the machine gun better not attached to its gray plate but moved back in the trunk where your figures can swing on its rotating axis without the whole thing falling off. There were a few extra pieces which are easily used to strengthen the build or modify your WH a bit. The other sets look good in this line as well, but for my tastes this is one is the coolest and the best value.

This IS NOT the Arctic White sets - It is GREENAug 17, 2011
By J in NC DO NOT order this set if you want the Arctic White blocks. They are pictured as white, but Amazon ships the green ones. I contacted them when I got the green one and they shipped it out again - and it was green again. The item is now under review as they have two different sets with the same item number. You can get the white one from a third party vendor, but the price is double.

nice one amazonDec 17, 2011
By E$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ You may be reading these other reviews and thinking that this stuff is junk. Well YOUR WRONG ITS NOT MEANT FOR A TWO YEAR OLD. I bought mine on sale for $12 and even $20 is a good deal. These are supost to be like the blind packs for the single figs exept with the warthogs. I dont know if people are blind or something like that. The point of these is so that you dont know what your getting. All you know is that its a warthog. The items you can get from this are the red exclusive troop transport warthog from target thas not in production any more,it sold for $20 but try getting it now for even $50. Another one is the original warthog its green with two spartans. That one sold everywhere for $20 they made a few minor mistakes in the design but its still a good deal. The only other option I know of is the snow warthog shown in the pic. I think that ones awesome two but it makes me mad that they made up that stupid 3 barrel thing its not even in the game. This one ranged from around $23-$30. Any of these are a good deal. I just bought the new walmart exc. warthog and was testing its duribility when I threw it down the stairs and it was not dammaged at all except the bar connecting the two ends fell off. This works as a great gift at a great price. I would so recomend this two any mega bloks fan.

EVERYBODY, DONT BUY THIS SPECIFIC ONE.Sep 29, 2011
By James The Green Warthog is one of MegaBloks' FIRST SETS EVER MADE. Also Amazon seems to think that the red, white and green warthogs are the same. THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, I DON'T SUGGEST BUYING THIS FOR RISK OF GETTING THE DEFECTIVE ONE.
The white one is fine, but still an older model, the green one is one of their first designs, the red one is great(It has no gun though, it's Troop Transport). I suggest going to the store and picking up the Anti-Aircraft Gun VS Rockethog, it has the BEST warthog there is, it is sturdy and fun and is the 5th generation warthog. The old sets are crappy, I admit; but the new sets are just as great as lego. Buy the "Halo Anniversary" line because it has way better quality and design, while maintaining a very good price for what you get. Be warned, the AA Gun VS Rockethog is 60$, but you get the best of their designs, so its worth it. I wouldn't buy this version unless you want a frustrating build, a fragile vehicle and a 1st model attempt at a warthog.
Lastly, I rate this a 3/10 but I rate the newest sets 9/10 because Mega Bloks has really improved over the years and LEGO seems to be quietly switching to Chinese plastic more frequently. I think we have a next generation of building toys coming our way. Keep your heads up at your local Wal-Mart, Target, Toysrus and even Kmart if you want to find Mega Bloks' best sets yet. Don't order this Amazon product.
