Want to like itNov 14, 2011
By missj It's called take and play, but when folded there isn't anywhere to put the bridge supports not very convenient in my opinion. My 2 year old does like it and carries it all over the house and im constinently looking for the bridge supports it does not work without them. I think the take and play series are great just not this one. Notice the pics when folded you only see the back, that's because its not that easy to fold and no storage for the pieces

By E. Nelson Great toy my son loves to push the trains along the track. He really likes the downward curve and the doors! The spinner on it is very fun too, but my 2 yr old just can't figure out how to load it yet. I like that I can fold it up and carry it to a friends house! The only thing i don't like is the ramps that hold up the curves are detachable and don't stay on very well.

FINALLY! A BRAND NEW, SPANKY-CLEAN HOME FOR SODOR'S DIESELS!Dec 23, 2011
By Grandma Zizzy Prior to going into detail about The Dieselworks, a little of our own "Thomas" history... As first time grandparents, my husband and I wanted to start some type of collection for our grandson that he could possibly pass along to his own kids one day. Our grandson was 2 1/2 at the time, and had been talking a lot about a certain train named Thomas (a little fella whom - now hard to believe! - we'd never heard of.) After doing some research, it seemed the Take-n-Play line might be the perfect investment to engage and encourage his active imagination, as well as provide a fun way for us to interact with him. What a rewarding decision... we've had SO much fun together with this quality line of trains, vehicles and playsets! As he approaches 4, a large portion of our basement has become a wonderful Sodor land of make believe that we all enjoy visiting - and continues to hold his interest, which is quite a feat given the tendency at that age to move in and out of toy phases so quickly!
As seen in 2011's "Day of the Diesels" movie, this playset features the brand new, spanky-clean Dieselworks that the engines all pitched in to build after the old, oily Dieselworks was destroyed by a fire! Take-n-Play's version is bright orange and yellow overall; the "outside" has a large grey sign reading "VICARSTOWN DIESELWORKS" and depicts a diesel train on a track, along with 5 brown shop fans and 3 brown vents, as well as 3 doors with hazard stripes (2 of which have track running through and swing open for Diesel - included! - to enter and exit). The "inside" has several neat features... a red turntable with yellow & black hazard stripes on the sides that sits on a green base - once Diesel climbs a piece of ascending, curved track, you can let him descend on his own and once he enters the turntable, it SPINS up flush to the repair platform! There's a red gate arm attached to the turntable that lifts up to let Diesel move onto the repair platform, and the backdrop to the platform shows a (painted on) Diesel 10 glaring out from his private berth between 2 yellow/black hazard striped sliding doors. Of course "Happy Hook" - with his rotating crane arm to lift and load cargo - is part of the inside, and there's also a yellow gate arm that moves up and down. The grey track itself is neat, with 2 green supports that hold the ascending piece of curved track, and 3 different places to connect this set up to other sets or track pieces. The Dieselworks first appeared on Take-n-Play's 2011 Collector Checklist, and with Fisher-Price's March 2012 MSRP of $35, I feel it's worth that price - I paid a penny less, and it was one of my grandson's 2011 Christmas gifts- he LOVES it! Most of his other diesel trains have joined Diesel to live there as well... Den, Dart, Norman & his brother Dennis, Paxton, Sidney, D199 and his talking version of Diesel. The only exceptions are Salty & Talking Salty (who live at his Cranky at the Docks set), Mavis (who lives at his Rock Quarry Run set), and his Diesel 10 & Talking Diesel 10 - he's afraid of them, and keeps them on a shelf in permanent "time out"! F-P's MSRPs for their playsets have generally reflected what I've come to categorize as "beginner" (under $25 MSRPs), "intermediate" ($25-$30 MSRPs), and "elaborate" ($35 & over MSRPs). The only thing I'd caution is that if you want a set your youngster can EASILY and QUICKLY take on the road with you, you might want to consider one of the "beginner" or "intermediate" sets instead. Although my grandson really enjoys his elaborate sets (Rock Quarry Run, Thomas at Pirate's Cove, The Dieselworks, Rescue from Misty Island, Load & Go, Rumbling Gold Mine Run), I wouldn't recommend them for easy transport. Those are the only 6 of his 21 playsets that Grandma says have to stay put in the basement! AND... new in 2012 are the Sodor Steamworks Repair Shed, as well as The Great Quarry Climb (being introduced in conjunction with 9/2012's Blue Mountain Mystery movie and featuring new character Owen, a rock elevator!)

By ccrider My grandson loves this toy. He enjoys the way the diesel engine spins in the garage. We have hours of fun setting up his take and play buildings.

By Dude Overall good toy and received it on time. My only complaint is the bridge part isn't sturdy but it's a plastic toy so I don't expect much.
