5Wheeljack is back, Baby!!Mar 14, 2011
By JohnnyRob2814 "Johnny"
I have been waiting and waiting for a revamp of Wheeljack since the TFU Classics line started a few years back. When I saw the prototypes for this, I became as giddy as a schoolgirl!

This figure is a great representation of the classic Wheeljack. Nice paint apps/color choices, and a fairly smooth transformation. The figure does have quite a few pieces to transform, but the great thing is, they're all very solid. No pieces popping off during transformation. I did have a little bit of trouble folding the back half up (last step) when transforming back to alt mode, but realized I wasn't following the direction properly. (Leave the arms at a 90 degree angle and THEN fold. Don't fold the arms, then try to fold the back half. It doesn't fit right!)

I would have liked to have seen a "539" on the side, but that's not a major deal. How hard would it be to find some decals, if you really wanted, right? Wheeljack is a little shorter than I expected, but that fits with the boxy look of the character, and he looks absolutely great next to my Henkei Classics Optimus Prime! (Just got the Fansproject G3 trailer for that, too!)

Overall, I'd say they definitely nailed Wheeljack! If you're a TF Fan, especially G1... Go pick this up... seriously... NOW! GO!!!

*Attention Mom's/Dad's/Grandparents, not familiar with Transformers... do not buy this for your 3 to 5-year-old kid. There are age-appropriate transformers out there!

5He's got Tracks in check!May 03, 2011
By M. Ram
If you've been following the Transformers Classics/Universe/Generations line, you know that "Turbo" Tracks and Wheeljack share the same mold. It's pretty obvious looking at them that the design was intended for Wheeljack (even though Tracks came out first), and he's definitely the better of the two figures. It's not just the simple yet elegant paint job; Hasbro really went the extra mile for him in that he has a remolded head, "wings," legs, and exhaust pipes/wrenches instead of rockets. Somehow he even fits together better in vehicle mode, and the pipes allow him to roll much more easily than the rockets did for Tracks.

Two things of note: The instructions are off in places (he shouldn't have a "flight mode"; the exhaust pipes are wrenches he holds [not missiles] and the gun is what goes on his shoulder as a launcher), and I find it odd that the green stripes on his doors aren't continuous like on the rest of the car.

Wheeljack is amazing!Wheeljack was one of the great G1 transformers that I loved as a kid and this generations version is an awesome tribute to the original.Wheeljack was the inventor in the field of science and engineering for the Autobots. He had plenty of inventions that helped his Autobot brothers in the battle against the decepticons.Wheeljack has his classic G1 colors with the red and green on the white paint job while also having a very accurate head piece to the G1 version as well.Wheeljack also features a converting blaster that can be attached behind the shoulder or in his hand. The pipes on the side of the sports car can reattach in robot mode behind the shoulders to be used as cannon guns as well.Wheeljack is an awesome reminder of how cool transformers were back in the day and is a must have for all transformer fans of all ages. The poseability is outstanding with great stability for creating cool battle scenes or displaying this gem where you please. The durability is excellent as well with secure joints and a solid build with ball joint construction in either mode. The transformation level is intermediate meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is a mid-level difficulty. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you might have to help some in the process.Wheeljack really only has one tricky part in the transformation process which is when you go from robot back to vehicle the arms have to be folded up just right to connect the back section with the rest of the sports car.If you position the arms in a 90 degree angle or L-shape it will usually work to solve the delima. To start out the process from sports car mode to robot remove the pipes from the sides while the back section rotates up and down to be positioned on the bottom of the vehicle. The arms are then positioned straight out while the converting blaster is removed from inside the back section piece. The front piece then slides down as the doors rotate outwards. The wheels on the arms then rotate back while the arms rotate around. The arms now rotate down to the side as the wheels rotate back forward. The doors then slide out and rotate upwards.Remember to slide first or they won't rotate all the way up.The front of the vehicle then seperates as the feet pieces which are the front fender parts flip forward. The back section of the vehicle rotates up to rest on the back while the pipes can be positioned behind the shoulder as cannon guns.Wheeljack is now ready for action!Wheeljack is a great addition for all transformer fans.If you loved Wheeljack as a kid you will love this version just as much as an adult.Bottom line Generations Wheeljack is a well-made,high quality,10 out of 10 transformer all fans will love.I highly recommend Wheeljack to all transformer fans and collectors out there.Wheeljack Rocks and Transformers Rule!!!

I'm a huge fan of Transformers. Have been since the 80's. Love how they have taken classic characters and updated them into new forms. By far this is my favorite line since the original. The only drawback to this mold is the lower legs. They lack articulation and look too wide. I wish they could have found a way to make the legs slimmer. Other than that top knotch job!!
