1. Megatron is the NEW megatron from the upcoming Transformers 2! That's why he's a tank.
2. The arms on Megatron are an issue.
3. Optimus is better quality.
4. Worth the six bucks it cost.

3Fun to dink withMar 14, 2009

Megatron from this set sucks. Plain and simple. It's poor craftsmanship. Not durable at all. And he doesnt look very good in either mode. Prime is fun, and for some reason, a little more sturdy. Keep Prime in robot mode, or else you might be very VERY disappointed. In vehicle mode, Prime looks; and is, very wobbly and staright out stupid. All in all, they are good toys to dink around with while watching tv, or if you want to try your hand out at stop motion.

4The age-old (read: since 1984) battle continues...May 17, 2011

Optimus Prime:
A good rendition of the classic Optimus Prime look in robot mode, with articulation in all the right places. The tommy gun-esque rifle isn't much like the iconic ion blaster, but it can still make for some good combat poses. Excellent light piping in the (rather large) eyes, and good paint apps all over. 'Power punch' gimmick is sort of fun, though it takes a bit of force to pull the switch to lock it for posing and display purposes.
Vehicle mode is... not so good; the thighs don't collapse into the legs in any way, making for a very long rear end. The cab itself appears squashed, thanks to the limitations of the transformation. You may be keeping this guy in robot mode more often.

Megatron:
Robot mode is more based off of Megatron's G2 form, with large feet to keep him stable. The lack of a right hand and elbow thanks to the gimmick is a shame, though articulation in the rest of the body make up for it. The proper placement of the tank cannon/fusion cannon is a nice touch; 'spinning battle blade' gimmick is okay and unobtrusive.
As a rendition of Megatron's G2 tank mode, it's a vast improvement. Unlike its predecessors with similar arm transformation, the turret spins a full 360 degrees. The feet are actually misassembled, preventing them from folding up properly in tank mode; swapping the feet lets one fold them up completely for a more compact vehicle mode.

2Not for kidsMar 03, 2011

I wish toys were built like they were back in the 80's when I was a kid.
Today's toys are cheap plastic pieces of junk. This one was no exception.
Looks good, but once you actually try to play with them... they fall apart.

Megatron's parts started falling off on day 1. Optimus prime soon followed.
Needless to say, it didn't last more than a couple weeks before it ended up in the garbage.

Buy this only if you want them for display or to add to your collection.
Don't buy this for your kids to play with or you'll be disappopinted.

By A. pacheco "How can you pluralize 'The Lone Ranger'?"
I've been around since Gen 1, so I know what I'm talking about when I say: This.. set... SUCKS! This shouldn't go for more than 5 bucks. The Prime is sloppy, wobbly, and basically flaccid. Sure, he's got "punching action," but when he's not busy punching, he's twirling his torso like a dainty ballerina. Megatron has this spinning arm action thing, but that arm is not secured to the spinning nub and easily pops off in mid transformation. Buy this if you want to transform them to smithereens with explosives. Otherwise, shell out the extra cash for the just-overpriced Voyager class.
