One of the best Megatrons ever madeMay 29, 2008

There are many aspects about Takara that makes them exceptional over Hasbro. One of them is the care and attention to detail. Almost never do you see Hasbro adding shiny chrome pieces to their figures on the first release. With Takara that sort of thing's standard issue. A HUGE plus is that with Takara figures there are NO frustrating twist ties keeping the figure firmly imprisoned in his plastic cage. Now onto Megatron himself; While some might view the transformation of this guy as a bit hard it really is very intuitive, even on the second try. If needed a quick glance at the instructions (though in Japanese) will set you on your way. The color scheme is very much in keeping with G1 Megatron, not like the ever curious white/purple/neon green of Hasbro. The articulation is top notch, this Megatron has a world and half of possible poses in him. His fusion cannon is almost perfectly sized for his arm. Any who own or have even seen the Masterpiece Megatron know how an obscenely large gun can shave off good points. There have been gripes about the wings on this particular figure, but I honestly don't care. They're part of the transformation, they don't get in the way all that much, and in some poses they actually look pretty cool. And yes the design for his gun mode was loosely based off of some Nerf gun. Fine whatever, he's supposed to be a space-like gun anyway. His head by the way is nicely G1-esk, with some very good red light piping. I have a small issue with his fist on his cannon arm. When pointing his cannon his fist is sideways in a weird way. It bothers me a little up close but unless you're really REALLY looking it over you can't tell. He doesn't fall apart easily all of his joints snap in and out of place solidly. Final Conclusion: You really can't go wrong with this figure. My advice is to pass on the Hasbro classics Megatron and go for Takara's. Don't worry about the price. When I bought mine is was about forty-three dollars and that's completely worth it.

This is the best Megatron ever, period.Jan 07, 2009
By S. White Some may scoff at the fact he has wings or doesn't become a Walter P-38 pistol, but accuracy was a small sacrifice to produce one of the most fluid versions of Megatron I've ever seen. His posability is superb and the TakaraTomy version's colors blow my mind. He's large and imposing, a charm in any Transformer's collection.

Evil never look this good.Nov 19, 2008
By Carlie Smith The ever popular decepticon leader Megatron is back. Remember back in the g1 series, megatron transforms into a pistol? This time it's a blaster. That's right, they finally brought back megatrons true transformed glory in the classic series. And he can fit in your hand in blaster gun mode. Trigger works great, and offers great role play values. Can even be displayed in blaster mode by itself. The secret is in the foot. There's two versions of him, the american version (galvatron colors), japanese (true megatron colors).
Pretty darn great!Apr 01, 2011

The pictures sold me on this and I still have my G1 Megatron after all these years. When I got the toy itself I was very impressed by the thought that went into his transformation. Someone really thought out how the robot became the gun and visa verse. Neither form suffered from the other. It's a solid toy with a great look and stable feel. The robot is very pose-able and looks great, the gun is superb fitting a futuristic cylinder gun via Mass Effect or even some 80's sci-fi show. This an impressive and very good toy. I highly recommend for anyone who is a fan of the Transformers. If you are a Michael Bay movie transformers fan, then I don't recommend this for you as it appeals too much to actual fans of the original series of cartoons and toys.
MEGATRON ATTACK!!!!!!!!Dec 15, 2009
By Jones Spirius This is what we've been waiting for! A classic Megatron with articulation, durability and a completely nonsense alt mode! Yes Takara knocked this ball into the mean old neighbor's yard for sure. This classic megs just plain has it all. In robot mode he is the maniacal megalomaniac we all got to know and hate in the 80's and in gun mode we still don't question the physical implications of his insane transformation. With his G1 colors intact and that awesome chrome that Takara makes so beautifully, this Decepticon leader is the one to have. If you can only get one Megatron here he is!
