Great Game - New Design StinksSep 08, 2006
By Matt Scott Jacoby

I bought this set with memories of family games around the dinner table dancing through my head. My best buddy Chris and his family had this card game when we were kids, and we played it a lot. It is great fun.
However, one of the things I remember most were the nicely designed cards, in suits depicting each commodity. In the old days the suits were Rice, Corn, Wheat, Flax, Barley, etc. When I opened the package I received from Amazon, I found "new and improved" cards with new commodities and new graphic design. The Commodities are now Cocoa, Platinum, Gold, Cattle, Oil, Rice, Silver, and Gas. In my opinion, these "improved" commodities are far inferior to the classics. The worst offense however is the graphic design. It's quite awful. The game will of course play the same, but I have to say I am quite disappointed with the cards themselves.
Amazon's photo depicts the classic commodities, albeit with different (crappier) design, but at least that's something. If you decide to order this fun game, be sure to specify that you don't want the "new suits," request the old ones instead.

Very fun for kidsJul 23, 2006
By canasta I loved playing this game when I was a kid. I turned my own kids on to it (the 8 and 11 yr. old, 6 yr old too young) along with neices and nephews. It's noisy and the kids have a great time. If your kids like to play spoons, they will like Pit.

Pit card gameJan 15, 2007
By J. Flick Our family has had a lot of fun with Pit - especially the grand-kids. It's a game for the whole family to play together. It gets kind of noisy, but is fun for all.

Pit- wonderfully fun party gameNov 14, 2010
By Beattitude I grew up playing this game, and it's by far the family favorite. It's premise is simple and it's easy to learn, but most of all, it's incredible loud, raucous fun for a large group (some versions play up to 10; most cap at 8). Not so much fun for under 6 people; don't bother if you have less than 4.

I went to a new years party and they wanted to play this card game..I was reluctant b/c frankly it looks boring...I was wrong.. What a great game to play with a group!! I hate drawing games, trivia games..etc..this was perfect...doesn't make you feel stupid or a bad artist...everyone really is on the same level...LOVED it!!
