 Buyer beware -- have Xia Xia Pets on hand before buying this!Feb 05, 2012

There are NO hermit crabs in this box! The picture is deceptive. Had I not carefully looked this over when it came in, my niece would have had a playhouse with no inhabitants for Christmas. Toy manufacturers need to be a bit more forthcoming about things like this, especially for those of us who mostly shop on-line and are not accustomed to buying for children! I get it -- they want to sell lots of little creatures to live in this house, and we adults are expected to shell out for them (no pun intended). That's OK, little ones exhibit more glee over bits of colored plastic than the average adult does over anything short of winning the lottery. Aunties like me love to see that excitement in them, so sure, we're going to buy the plastic -- but we're going to be far more likely to buy it from companies that don't set us up for a Christmas disaster! Rating? I guess I'll give it a four, but only because my niece absolutely loved it!

For Christmas this year, Santa brought my girl each a Xia Xia and my niece some along with this "copacabana". What a total waste of a toy. The girls were so excited to have it set up, set up kept falling apart, nothing would stay together long enough to be played with...then the "play" area is so tiny only 1 crab at a time fits on it...and they say as soon as they hit something they will turn around, we tried every single crab we had and NONE of them did this, they would just run around for 2-5 seconds, hit a corner or a wall and stop. Thats it. Game over. Fun...nope, noone had any. These toys are JUNK!

Xia Xia playset was very easy to assemble, but a few of the pieces are very flimsy and they tend to fall off while playing. My 4 year old daugther loves the Xia Xia pets and she gives it 2 thumbs up!

The Copacabana Playset was the perfect gift to give along with Xia-Xia. It's colorful detailing is so charming! I also found the instructions very helpful when I was assembling.

This is a complete waste of effort. It falls apart as you build it. It falls apart if the kid moves it. It falls apart under the weight of the crab. The pieces are very thin and flimsy. It's poorly designed and cheaply made. It is the wrong size for the crabs, they can't get through the openings without hitting things and stopping. The positive reviews on this forum all mention that "directions are very helpful". In reality, the directions consist of a drawing of the pieces labeled with letters showing which tab goes in which slot. It isn't a matter of figuring how they go together, the problem is that it's cheap and flimsy, and the pieces don't snap tightly. This disposable quality junk will make you and your kid cry.
