If it weren't for the marketing hype - you would expect to find these toys in the dollar bin, or maybe free in a happy meal. Cheap, Plastic, Junk. Shame on whomever is marketing these as collectible, or interesting, or fun, and charging $13 per item. Worse is the inflated price, hype and limited availability of the playsets. This is nothing more than a watch battery powered wind up toy. It does nothing but move back and forth on a small wheel. Its extra "friend," is about the size of a thumbtack, and excellent for the dog or your toddler to swallow. I am embarresed that we purchased one, we were looking for a chore chart prize for my 4.5 year old daughter - she had mentioned these pets. We were shocked at the price tag, as I expected at most a $5 item, and my daughter was bored in SECONDS. She suggested that maybe it would be more fun if she had a playset. Not a chance in our house this year. Signed - Dad who is desperate for a made in America quality toy that our kids can collect.

My 3 1/2 daughter loves these things. You can't get them away from her. She has two (so they have a friend) and she plays with them all over the house and with the play sets. They may be cheesy, but they are loved, so to me, they were worth every penny.

First of all, I am an 11 1/2 year old girl. That should help you understand my point of view xD
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Xia -Xia Crab!!!!! I have the pink one, it has bows on its hair, hearts on its big claws, and it even has shoes!!! Don't expect it to make waffles for you, but it is so fun anyways!!!!!!! I got one for both of my besties too, the purple one and the blue one. I also have the purple shell with the flower on it. If you just want a cute toy that walks and dances, then get this!!! They can be for guys too, they come in orange and blue also!! But any of the colors I would like :D

This thing and all its accessories are junk! My 3 year old thinks they are cute and loves them, which is why it got 2 stars instead of 1. They don't move very far at all before stopping and can't even get over small bumps like the tile grout. Junk junk junk.

Junk. Too bad they are crap because if they made them better I'd buy many more- my daughter really loved everything about them while they were working. She had fun with these during the few weeks that they operated properly. She got two of them for Christmas.
A week later one stopped working and somehow the on/off switch sunk too deep into the belly of the crab= completely useless. A month into having them their limbs started falling off. We were able to stick them back on but come on- these were $9!! By the middle of January the second one stopped working and the legs that were falling off wouldn't stay on. For $9 a piece I expect more from a toy. You can buy those Hexbugs for the same price and they actually work for a while.
Bottom line: don't buy them until they're in the dollar bin. Even then, think long and hard.
